Here’s a peek at the rooms I’ve never really shown you. And, the story behind why I haven’t done their room reveals yet.
I am getting so close to having this house completely done. If that’s really a thing a DIY’er can say (do we ever actually stop). 😉 So, I decided it was time to give you all a look at 5 of the rooms I’ve been working some ‘Farmhouse meets Traditional Home Room Makeover’ magic on.
Just remember, they’re not really done. These aren’t perfectly staged rooms. Just quick pictures from around the house. But they’re still full of fun inspiration and ideas. I’ll share the full before and after reveals on each room, as soon as they’re ready. 🙂

Farmhouse meets Traditional Home Room Makeover on our Office I love the mix of white millwork, in the wainscoting and bookshelves, with the dark wood desk, in this room. That white desk chair I found in someone’s trash still looks great after the big makeover I gave it (you won’t believe the before pictures). I have really, really struggled with the bookshelves in the office for years. I’m still learning how to mix books with decor and make it all look pretty. But, this is getting close. Keeping the books in the top row. And giving the books that fun rainbow bookshelf look helped, a lot! I’m hoping to build a reading bench seat to put under the windows too. Hopefully, I’ll have time for that build soon. For decor, I’m trying to stick with just a few bigger objects. I’ll be wrapping those photo albums in matching paper, to give them a uniform look. I might even dip those Magnolia Home wood houses in a bit of color. You can find the DIY for that easy Mason Jar Planter Box in a previous post. I also built that simple cabinet top bookshelf to keep the kids books in easy reach. It’s been a huge help in keeping those books organized too! You can see here, I still need to find some pretty decor for that one shelf on the right. And, I’ll tweak all of it a bit, before a final reveal. I need to remove those child locks on the desk, too. 🙂 I might even paint the back of those open cabinets white again. What do you think? Farmhouse meets Traditional Home Room Makeover on our Game Room This game room is really our toy room now. I just kinda hid the toys for this picture. 🙂 So, it’s getting a big change soon. That pool table is coming down for a few years, to make room for play. The room is going to be all about kid’s play kitchens and art desks and toys soon. But, I thought I should share how nice it looks as a pool table / grown up game room, first. That cow wall art is a new find from Target. I love him. On the left, Star Wars fans might notice my fun Farmhouse Style DIY Star Wars Subway Sign. I’m kinda a huge Star Wars nerd. 😉 See some of my favorite Star Wars DIY’s and Finds here. I hung the Faux Metal artwork I made in this post with the DIY Chunky wood frames from this post. Have I mentioned how much I love all the millwork in this house? I do! It’s so hard to photograph this wall with all of that natural light shining through. For real reveal photos, I might need to block that sunlight from the outside somehow. Here’s one little peek of toys, in the open and easy to build toy storage box from last year. Farmhouse meets Traditional Home Room Makeover on our Foyer Bam! I love a good dramatic staircase entryway. How about you? I just painted those walls and ceiling as part of our Living Room Makeover. It was pretty necessary since those rooms connect across the 1st and 2nd floors. I’m so glad I lightened those walls. It is really making that staircase millwork pop. BUT, if you saw my recent Instagram question about my foyer remodeling idea, you know I want to close off that archway and build a beautiful entryway bench and coat storage. Am I crazy? I think it could be great. Watch the Instagram videos in this post to hear all about it and see my idea. Let me know what you’d do. That blue Threshold woven rug is a new find that I love. It looks so pretty and feels great underfoot. Here’s another view of the foyer. It’s a huge open space, but all of the doors to other rooms means that I have no real walls for furniture in this foyer. Which kind of makes the room seem small and unusable. A wall here could put the ‘grand’ back in this grand entry! Just picture a feature wall with a beautiful bench and some artwork here instead. 🙂 Farmhouse meets Traditional Home Room Makeover on our Master Bedroom You might have seen this bedroom in my DIY Tray Ceiling Paneling Makeover post. Since then, I’ve added those great curtains from the Pottery Barn with the curtain rods I’ve been using lately from the Martha Stewart Heritage Oak line at Home Depot. I used those in my Living Room Makeover too. They’re so pretty! But, don’t look too closely at the curtains. They need a good steam, guys. And, that mattress is so stinking lumpy. I really need a new one. Apparently you need a protective cover on pillow top mattresses to prevent them from going lumpy???!! Oops. Otherwise, this room is super close to being finished. I recently moved the big chair and ottoman from our Living Room in here. It looks so much better in the bedroom. I built that upholstered bench at the end of the bed and shared the full tutorial last summer. I recently found those pretty blue Shibori prints at Target. They work perfectly with that DIY Chevron wall art I made. And that warm knit throw from Target is my new favorite blanket. It’s so warm, cuddly, and beautiful. I barely share it. 😉 Farmhouse meets Traditional Home Room Makeover on our Guest Room This room is so hard to photograph, for me. I’m sure a real camera could get the job done. Maybe I’ll get one some day. This room has come leaps and bounds recently too. It has that Behr’s Sandstone Cove wall color that I’m using everywhere lately. It lightens a room up in such a nice way. That ruched jersey bedding is so soft and pretty. I think it’s a great welcoming place for our guests now. Should have straightened those lampshades though. 😉 The guest room still needs a few final touches. I was hoping to give that dresser a makeover someday. But my DIY Scrap Wood Wall Art works beautifully in there. That sweet little coffee table I recently painted looks nice in there too. The room just needs a bit more attention before the big reveal.
That’s it for today. Stay tuned for more DIY tutorials and room reveals. Big changes are happening around here. 🙂
