25 Beautiful Shiplap Fireplace Ideas (And My White Shiplap Fireplace Wall)

Before we get started with the 25 beautiful shiplap fireplace ideas I have to share with you, here’s a little look at my recent white shiplap fireplace makeover.

Our White Shiplap Fireplace Wall

Our Living Room walls are huge. Like 20′ high, huge. With chunky crown molding and 10 extra large windows that let all of the light and the view of our backyard shine through.

But, the millwork above our mantle seemed so small compared to the walls and windows. The fireplace design bothered me for 6 years.

Here’s the fireplace just before the old molding above the mantle was removed.

So, in 2018 I hired a crew to come in to install shiplap above the fireplace with power outlets and a tv mount. I’m so glad I made that change.

When I walk in that Living Room now, that beautiful white shiplap fireplace wall feels like a true centerpiece. It just draws your eyes up and makes the room feel grand.

BUT, I have to admit, it didn’t really turn out the way I pictured it. The contractors used the wrong shiplap and the trim wasn’t quite right. I wish I had used images to show them exactly what I wanted.

But, it’s hard to come up with good examples of shiplap above fireplace mantels… until now! It’s 2024 and AI image creation is easier than ever. And, while not perfect, the results are still pretty good.

Beautiful Traditional Homes With Shiplap Fireplace Walls

I’m a big fan of this muted Living Room design. The walls seem to be a greyish sage with a whitewashed stain look in the shiplap and built ins. Very nice.

I’m loving this mix of blue and white shiplap. It has a nice New England feel. And, the ceiling is similar to my kitchen after I installed Shiplap Over A Textured Ceiling then added my Two Piece Crown Molding.

This shiplap fireplace wall looks like 1×4’s over the shiplap with some sort of small cove or chair rail molding alongside the 1×4’s (similar to what I did in my 2 Story Foyer Remodel with Trim Molding.

This shiplap looks like a grey stain, but grey paint would look beautiful with white wainscoting and a marble fireplace. That marble is great with that shiplap fireplace and traditional mantel.

Shiplap Fireplace With TV Above The Mantel

I always like built-ins on both sides of a fireplace. This one seems to have shiplap above fireplace mantel with 1×3 trim framing it out. Then a chair rail that partially covers the 1×3 next to that.

I think this is the first green shiplap I’ve seen. But, it’s so good!

That coffered ceiling with stained wood always looks great. This one seems to have a Three Piece Crown Molding with it.

I wish I had done something like this with my shiplap fireplace wall. It’s 1×6 over the shiplap. With my vaulted ceiling, I could have turned that tall stretch of shiplap into 3 – 1×6 boxes over the mantel.

These built-ins are similar to the ones I made for my family room makeover. I’m a fan. This shiplap has simple 1×2’s on either side with a 1×4 along the top.

I’m loving this grid design over the shiplap fireplace design idea. I’d say the sides look like 1×6. Then the thinner grid trim is a 1×2.

The blue shiplap over this fireplace mantel is framed out with white 1×4’s. Then it’s topped off with a shiplap ceiling and chunky, two piece crown molding. Similar to what I just did with my kitchen makeover.

This vertical shiplap wall reminds me of midcentury modern design and Scandi style mixed. Very peaceful and cozy in it’s simplicity.
