My Minoxidil Results After 2 Years
Hi guys! Three years ago, I noticed I was losing a lot of hair when I was showering and fixing my hair. It went on for about six months before I decided to do something about it.
Which meant I had lost a lot of volume in my hair. So, I had a lot of visible skin at my temple that was never there before.
For the next six months I tried vitamins, coconut oil, and talking to my Endocrinologist about my hair loss. But, when none of that worked, I decided it was finally time to give Rogaine (aka Minoxidil) a try.
And, I’m SO GLAD I did! Within 2 weeks, I was losing A LOT less hair when I was showering or fixing my hair. Within 2 months, I had tons of baby hairs growing in all along my face.
This post goes over what I’ve learned from TWO YEARS of Minoxidil Results. With tips and answers to questions I get on my YouTube videos. Let’s get to it!

Does Minoxidil Work For All Women?
Unfortunately, no. Minoxidil doesn’t work for all women. There are so many things that can cause hair loss in women, from illness, to genetics, to auto-immune disorders, and more.
With all of those different causes, there are also many different reactions to Minoxidil.
If you read through some of the comments on my first video about using Minoxidil, you’ll see how different the effects of using Rogaine Foam for women can be for everyone.
It’s always best to start by talking to your GP or maybe your gynecologist about your hair loss. They might be able to find a cause to your hair loss that can be fixed without using Minoxidil.
For example, hormone changes in your late 40’s, thyroid issues, or allergies could be causing hair loss. Addressing those issues could reverse your hair loss. So, talk to your doctors first!
My Hair Regrowth After Using Rogaine 5% Foam For 4 Months
When I started using 5% Rogaine Foam for women, I was losing a lot more hair than normal in the shower and while styling my hair. It had caused thinning, or loss of volume, across my entire head.
But, the worst of the loss was in one of my temples. I could see a lot more skin there than I ever had. So, I started by applying half a capful of the foam all along my forehead and both temples, daily.
Within a couple weeks I noticed I was losing A LOT less hair in the shower and while styling my hair. It was probably just 10% of what I was losing before using minoxidil for women.
Within 4 months I had 1″ to 2″ long baby hairs all along my forehead. And, I could tell I was getting my volume back too. Since I wasn’t shedding all of those extra hairs, I was seeing hair regrowth all over.

Watch this video to hear the 3 things that might be causing my hair loss. And, you’ll also see my actual Minoxidil Hair Growth Results after just 4 months. My face was basically lined with tons of baby hairs.
How Long Does It Take For Minoxidil To Work?
If you use generic 5% Minoxidil Foam for women, or the Rogaine brand of Minoxidil foam, according to the directions, you should start to see some hair regrowth within 4 weeks.
You should plan on using Minoxidil for at least 3 or 4 months to decide if it’s right for you. But, remember, hair takes a while to grow. Any growth you have after 4 months will likely be just a couple inches long.
You need to be looking for baby hairs like that at 4 months. It’ll take a year or more for that hair to have significant length.
Who Should Not Use Minoxidil Foam For Women
If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, you SHOULD NOT use minoxidil. Minoxidil is a category C drug. That means it is a danger to developing babies and it could cause malformation.
So, be sure that you are not pregnant and will not become pregnant when you are using Minoxidil.
Is Rogaine Safe For Cats?
Rogaine and generic Minoxidil can poison cats, causing death. It can also poison dogs, but rarely causes death in dogs.
If you have a cat that licks your hair, it’s probably too dangerous to have Rogaine in your home. Check out the details about how Minoxidil can effect cats and dogs on the Pet Poison Helpline.
What If I Stop Using Minoxidil And Start Again?
After 2 years of using Minoxidil 5% Foam (whether it’s generic or Rogaine brand), I’ve stopped using Minoxidil 3 times. Two times I went out of town without my foam, so I accidentally quit for about 10 days.
Once, I quit using Minoxidil for 6 weeks, just to see what would happen when I quit for longer.
All 3 times I started shedding A LOT of hair again. It was the SAME amount of hair I was shedding before I started using Rogaine Foam for women. It probably started after about 1 week of not using the Foam.
If I let myself keep losing that much hair everyday, I would have been back to my original hair thinning within a few months.
Once I restarted using the Rogaine Foam, I went back to low levels of shedding within 2 weeks. Watch this video to see me fixing my hair when I was shedding a lot after quitting. I also answer more questions.
That’s it for my Minoxidil results and women’s Rogaine before and after. If you have any questions, please comment on one of my YouTube videos. I always try to respond when I get a chance. 🙂
