Turn your old Christmas Cards into cute Christmas Tree ornaments. This upcycle is a simple & fun Christmas craft for even little kids!
Simple Christmas Card Ornament Upcycle
Seems like it’s Christmas in Texas again. The radio stations are playing Bing Crosby and the stores are stocked full of Christmas decorations. Time to start crafting, right?!
These easy DIY Christmas Card ornaments are a cute and simple craft for kids to make. Even my 3-year old can do this one. Yay!
Every year, I have a list of Pinterest inspired projects I hope to do. But I have two little guys and an endless supply of dirty laundry. So, I really only get to work on 2 or 3 crafts before it’s time to pack Christmas away again.
I started this project with 2 key ingredients; a bunch of old Christmas cards and a toddler that wanted to help decorate for Christmas.
Generally, my 3-year old is all about cutting, gluing, and random scribbling. So, I had to keep this Christmas craft simple for him.
Luckily, nothing is simpler or more fun for a toddler than using scissors and gluing. He’s the perfect helper for making this easy DIY Christmas Card Ornament!

Simple Way to Upcycle Old Christmas Cards
I went through a stack of old cards to find small sections that would work on these brown paper tags.
I decided to cut the old Christmas Cards up myself. My 3-year old was much more interested in randomly cutting strips. He had zero focus for cutting out little pictures.
But if I do need confetti one day, he will be the kid for the job. The older your kid is, the better they’ll be at taking on this whole craft project.
Once I had a pile of cute Christmas scraps, the 3 year old was ready to take over. I let him pick the scraps he liked best and glue them on to the tags.
He is a wizard with some Elmer’s glue! We probably made about 2 dozen of these for the tree and another project I’m hoping to do soon.
This simple DIY Christmas Ornament Craft was simple, helped me save some pretty bits from the old cards, and now my kid can always look at the tree and see what he made.
If you don’t have old Christmas cards, you can use something like a beautiful Christmas Ephemera Pack to decorate the tags. That vintage-style Christmas ephemera makes really cute Christmas Ornaments too.
