Merry Christmas, everyone! Is it okay for me to say that now that it’s finally December? Well, I do know, it’s definitely okay to start your Christmas crafting!

I have been super busy on Christmas crafts and DIY’s for a few weeks now. I love making new DIY Christmas Ornaments and crafts every year.

I’ve been doing it since I was a kid and now I get to do it with my boys. Yay! I hope these fun & easy DIY Christmas ornament ideas inspire you to get crafting too.

6 Easy Christmas Ornament Crafts

Some of these may be too tough for the littlest kids. But with supervision, they can probably do most of these.

Grown ups will love these too. So get your friends together, grab a bottle of wine or cocoa, and treat yourself to some Christmas-y fun!

Grab some fun supplies to make these easy DIY Christmas Ornament Ideas for family craft night.

Quick Note: I found these trees in the dollar bin at Target, but Amazon has tons of unfinished wood ornaments to pick from in lots of shapes.

And, if you need some Christmas-colored craft paints, I used Apple Barrel Christmas Green Acrylic Paint and Apple Barrel Bright Red Acrylic Paint on these ornaments.

Melted Crayon Ornament

I have to admit, I just like melting crayons. I’m always looking for excuses to use up those little chunks of crayons around my house.

Start with a good layer of different greens. Then top with small amounts of other colors.

You can see another fun crayon craft for kids in my 6 Easy & Cheap Kids Crafts on Wood post.

To start, finely shave the crayon with a knife. Place the ornament on a piece of foil on a cookie sheet. Scatter the shavings onto the ornament and pop into the oven for 3-5 minutes at 250 degrees Fahrenheit.

This Melted Crayon Christmas Ornament is good for hanging on the tree or as a giant crayon now. 😉

Mini Buttons Christmas Tree Ornament Idea

I’m a sucker for those cute little packs of buttons at Hobby Lobby. If I can think up a good craft for them, I have to buy one of those $3 packs.

The Mod Podge will dry completely clear. I just snapped this picture while it was still a bit wet. But it’s super cute, right?

I used about 1/3 of a pack on this easy Christmas ornament craft. Just paint with acrylic craft paint first, then apply buttons with Matte Mod Podge. Easy, Peasy!

Decoupage Craft Paper Christmas Ornament

Just place your ornament on the paper and trace. I like to cut out smaller than the shape so that a painted edge frames the paper.

Trace the shape onto the back of the paper. But cut inside the line.

I used acrylic craft paint behind the paper. Then applied the paper with Mod Podge. Cutting the paper a little smaller than the ornament let’s some of the pretty acrylic paint frame the edges.

Fun Confetti Glitter Christmas Ornaments

This crafty Christmas ornament is a favorite with my kids.

First, paint with acrylic craft paint and allow to dry. Then, apply a thick layer of Mod Podge across the ornament, so that it doesn’t dry before the kids finish.

Don’t you just love this confetti glitter I found at the Target Dollar Spot? They always have great inspo for more easy DIY Christmas Ornament Ideas. 🙂

Let them sprinkle the glitter on, then set aside to dry. After that dries, just shake off the excess glitter.

Christmas Tree String Art Ornaments

I went for a very simple look here. I think it makes the embroidery floss pop against the green. Paint with acrylic first and allow to dry.

Then use small wire nails to create your pattern. I like to hold the nails with needle nose pliers while I hammer.

I LOVE this String Art Ornament Idea!

That tip makes everything easier and quicker. Space the nails out more for tiny hands. Go tighter and use more nails for a full string art look.

Hold that string in place with a little dot of Elmer’s Glue where the string wraps around each nail. 🙂

Cute, right?!

Painted Christmas Ornament For Kids

Paint with a base of acrylic paint. Then pick out some colors that go well together for the tree. I started with green dots and swirls. Then added colorful dots to fill in the spaces.

I started with lots of green dots and a few swirls.

I will say, I think this would be cuter if the whole base had been green. But the dots are really fun for kids to do. I just use the hard tip of a paint brush to make my dots.

These are fantastic! My daughter (3 years old) is currently into anything art related. So, I know she would LOVE to make some of these. And I love to involve her in craft projects when I can. Thanks so much for the inspiration!
